Taxi due to Medical Reasons
Applies to students who have been granted transportation between home and school based on a medical certificate for the period specified in the certificate.
The main rule is that transportation applies to the school’s maximum start and end times. If there is a need for transportation at other times, it must be stated in a medical certificate.
Please be aware of the following:
- The student must be ready for pick-up at the agreed time and location. If the student arrives late to the agreed time, the taxi cannot wait, and transportation must be arranged by the student/parent.
- There are often several students in the same taxi, and the transport provider determines the route and the order in which the students will be picked up/dropped off.
- The transport provider decides the time of arrival and departure, and this is arranged with the student/parent. The transport provider will not wait for the student. Delays may occur due to traffic conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.
- The school staff must ensure that reception and departure routines for the student work satisfactorily. The school staff is also responsible for supervising the student during any waiting time before and after school hours.
- If the student will not need transportation on certain days, this must be communicated to the transport provider preferably the day before but no later than one hour before the student was supposed to be picked up at home or school.
- The student cannot request the transport provider to drive on other routes than specified in the booking or at different times.
- If the basis for the transportation changes, the student/parent must inform the school. The transportation applies only on the days when there is a genuine need. When the student is well enough to travel by other means, the transportation must be canceled, and the transport provider and school are notified by the parents.
- If there is a need for transportation beyond the period indicated in the medical certificate, a new medical certificate must be obtained before the transport provider can extend their service. The medical certificate is delivered to the school, which forwards it to Brakar.
If, for any reason, you are dissatisfied with the transportation, inquiries/questions should be directed to Brakar via email: skoleskyss@brakar.no.
