Grettefoss Bridge closed: Changes to bus services

From 26 May until the end of October, Grettefoss Bridge will be closed to all motorized traffic. This will result in revised routes and longer travel times for passengers in the area. The bridge will remain open for pedestrians and cyclists throughout the construction period.

Buskerud County Council has begun the construction of the new Grettefoss Bridge on County Road 40 in Flesberg municipality. The new bridge will feature two driving lanes and is located south of the existing structure. Once completed, the current bridge will be repurposed as a dedicated path for pedestrians and cyclists.

As previously announced, the bridge is closed to motorized traffic from 26 May until the end of October. Please allow for extra travel time during this period.

Diversions and revised travel times

Service updates for Line 420 Kongsberg – Geilo

To ensure you reach your destination, a diversion via Vestsiden will be in place between Grettefoss and Svene. Please allow for 10 minutes extra travel time than usual. Please be aware that this delay may affect train connections at Kongsberg Station.

From Kongsberg: The bus runs as normal to Grettefoss, then travels directly to Svene via Vestsiden.

From Rødberg: The bus runs as normal to Svene, then travels directly to Grettefoss via Vestsiden.

Connections between Flesberg City Hall and Svene

For the departures from Geilo at 07:05 and 14:15 (weekdays), passengers must change to a minibus at Flesberg City Hall (Flesberg kommunehus) for travel to/from Svene.

Minibus schedule:

From Svene: Departures at 09:50 and 17:00, arriving at Flesberg City Hall at 09:55 and 17:05.

Summer schedules

Between 22 June and 16 August, all buses will detour via Svene. This means that departures from Geilo will also lose their connection with the train.

Service updates for Line 422 Kongsberg - Flesberg

Students traveling on Line 422 will notice that the bus follows a slightly different route during this period:

  • Buses that normally serve Vestsiden and travel to Haavengen will now continue all the way to Kongsberg knutepunkt.
  • Buses that normally travel via Svene to Kongsberg will now drive to Svene and continue to Haavengen.
  • We have scheduled an extra bus from Flesberg skole to Svene at the end of the school day (Tuesday–Thursday) to ensure sufficient capacity.

The school will be informed directly regarding these changes for the students.
