Expanding carpooling to Kongsberg and Numedal

Do you have spare seats in your car, or do you need a lift to work, school, or training? It’s now becoming even easier to travel together. Brakar is expanding its carpooling service to Kongsberg and Numedal, which means the entire county is now gathered in one app.

From Lier in the south to Hemsedal in the north – you can now use the nabogo app to share your journey with others, regardless of where in the county you live. With the expansion to Kongsberg and Numedal, the circle is complete, and Buskerud now offers a comprehensive carpooling service. Carpooling is an important supplement to the bus service, especially where departures are less frequent or distances are great.

An important contribution to the daily commute

As a mobility provider, Brakar's goal is to help you get from door to door. By utilizing the vacant capacity in cars already on the road, we are creating a denser transport network.

– We want to make it as easy as possible to leave the car at home, or at least leave one car behind. Carpooling provides more flexibility, reduces rush-hour congestion, and is an important contribution to a more sustainable Buskerud, says Terje Sundfjord, Section Manager at Brakar.

Since the launch in Drammen in 2023, we have seen great progress, with nearly 10,000 completed trips in the county. Now it is Kongsberg and Numedal's turn – areas with a high volume of commuters and many people heading in the same direction.

Carpooling is included in your period ticket

The best part of the offer? If you already have a period ticket with Brakar, carpooling is included in the price. This means you travel completely free of charge as a passenger using the nabogo app.

For those who drive, the app serves as a tool to receive a contribution toward vehicle expenses. You receive a fixed subsidy per passenger you take with you, making it both social and sensible to share the seats.

Visiting workplaces

– It's about building a culture of traveling together. When colleagues find each other through the app, we don't just solve traffic challenges; we also ease the parking pressure at large workplaces. For carpooling to work, we need to find each other.

That is why our partner nabogo visited businesses and educational institutions in Kongsberg and Numedal in week 15. There, they helped employees and students set up fixed routes and find good carpooling matches.
