Bus services on public holidays in May

May is here, bringing plenty of holidays and celebrations. Whether you’re joining the parades, heading out for a weekend trip, or simply enjoying your days off, we’ll help you get there. Here is an overview of how our buses run during the May holidays and Pentecost.

May brings several public holidays, and bus schedules will change on these days. We recommend using the journey planner in the Brakar app or at brakar.no to find the exact times for your route.

Our Customer Service Centre is closed on public holidays (1 May, 14 May, 17 May, and during Pentecost 24-25 May). You can always find updated information here:

Drammen and Lier

1 May, Ascension Day (14 May) and Pentecost (24–25 May): Sunday schedules.

Friday 15 May: Primary and lower secondary schools are closed. School routes for primary and lower secondary schools are cancelled. Routes for upper secondary schools (VGS) will run as normal. Check the app if you are unsure!

17 May (Constitution Day): Buses run on Saturday schedules. Night buses will not run on the night leading into May 18th.

Note: There will be detours in the city centre between 09:00 and 15:00 due to the children’s parades.

Whitsun Eve (23 May): Saturday schedules. Night buses will run as usual.

 

Night buses will run as usual on Friday 1 May and Whitsun Eve (23 May), but will not run on the night leading into 18 May.

Kongsberg, Numedal, Modum and Eiker

The following applies to these areas, as well as Sigdal and Krøderen:

1 May, 14 May, Whitsun Eve (23 May) and Pentecost (24–25 May): Sunday schedules.

17 May (Constitution Day): Sunday schedules apply to all routes, except the following:

  • Route 52: Runs on a Saturday schedule.
  • Route 420 Kongsberg–Geilo: Departures from Kongsberg at 08:35 and 15:40. Departures from Geilo at 10:05 and 14:05.

Brakar Fleks in Kongsberg: 

17 May : Service is available from 12:00 to 00:00. The perfect solution if you want to leave your car at home on Norway’s National Day!

Ringerike og Hole

1 May, 14 May and Pentecost (24-25 May): Sunday schedules.

17 May: Sunday schedules. 

Important for route 200: The bus will not stop between Sjølyst and the bus terminal on this day.

Whitsun Eve (23 May): Saturday schedules.

Hallingdal

1 May, 14 May and Pentecost (24-25 May): Sunday schedules.

17 May: Most routes are cancelled, but route 420 Kongsberg–Geilo will run:

  • From Kongsberg: 08:35 and 15:40
  • From Geilo: 10:05 and 14:05

Whitsun Eve (23 May): Saturday schedules.

Svelvik ferry

Crossing the fjord in May? The ferry schedule is as follows:

1 May, 17 May and Whitsun Eve (23 May): Saturday schedule.

Ascension Day (14 May), Whit Sunday and Whit Monday (24–25 May): Sunday schedule.

Tips for a stress-free journey:

  • Be out in good time: Expect delays on 17 May when the children’s parades are in the streets.
  • Check "next departure": In the Brakar app, you can track your bus in real-time.
  • Travel together: Remember that with a period ticket, you can bring up to four children under 18 for free on weekends and all public holidays. Take the opportunity to travel together!
