Accessibility

Brakar is committed to ensuring universal design requirements for public transportation in Buskerud.

Wheelchairs

All of our buses are equipped with wheelchair ramps or lifts. The driver will assist wheelchair users when needed. There are designated spaces with securing/fastening devices for wheelchairs on the buses. Wheelchairs should always be secured.

There is usually enough space for wheelchairs with the following maximum dimensions:

  • Length: 130 cm
  • Width: 75 cm
  • Weight: 300 kg

Taxi for wheelchair users in the event of technical failure

If there is a technical fault or broken equipment on the bus, wheelchair users are entitled to a taxi.

The driver should assist you in booking a taxi. If this does not happen and you are traveling during Brakar Customer Service Center's opening hours, please call 177 so our staff can book a taxi for you.

If you are traveling outside opening hours, you may book a taxi yourself and send a refund claim to Brakar at kundesenter@brakar.no.

When submitting a refund claim, please include the following: > Date, line number, departure time, the receipt from the taxi company, and your bank account number.

Brakar Customer Service will verify the claim with the bus operator before payment is issued.

Strollers

You can bring strollers on the bus for free as long as there is space available on board. The driver will decide based on safety considerations.

There are designated spaces for strollers on the bus. Strollers should be fastened with straps or held by an adult to ensure safe transportation.

Our regional buses have car seats for children under three years old. These seats are most suitable for children over six months old. We have a limited number of car seats on the buses and cannot guarantee availability. Therefore, we recommend bringing your own car seat if your child requires one.

Blind and Visually Impaired

Our buses are designed with good contrasts and equipped with external speakers that announce the bus' route number.

Next stops are announced over the speakers and displayed on screens inside the bus.

Svelvik Ferry

The ferry is universally designed in collaboration with the Norwegian Association of Disabled and the Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted. All passenger facilities are located on one deck, without stairs or elevators. Two parking spaces on deck are reserved for people with mobility challenges, and the ferry is equipped with an accessible restroom.

If you want to learn more about accessibility during your journey, please contact our Customer Service Centre.
